Gift of Fitness offers a variety of exercise classes on a rotating schedule. These are posted on our Events Calendar. During the school year, classes have been offered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Additional classes will be added as needed.
Classes offered include Yoga, Spartacus workout, Tabata, cardio, stability ball, abs, stations and more. In addition, we conduct a weekly group “walkabout” on Tuesday at 6:00pm on the bike path to Fox Lake’s Millennium Park when weather permits. This walk is open to everyone.
We plan to offer new classes, such as Pilates and Zumba® Fitness, when possible.
If it is impossible for a participant to attend class at any of the scheduled times, she can set a time with our staff to have an individual workout class using a DVD from our large collection.
We plan to schedule at least one 45-minute wellness or health related presentation every month. Topics will include healthy diet, obesity prevention, diabetes education and healthy cooking. Speakers will include the program director, board members and local health and nutrition professionals.
We are developing programming to include blood pressure and chiropractic screenings.
We encourage program participants to attend a nutrition activity at least once every other month.
If it is not possible for a participant to attend at any of the scheduled class times, she can schedule a one-on-one session with one of our staff.
